Define the areas to be assessed:

The first step will be to determine the boundaries of the assessment i.e. identify the scope of the Assessment.

Build an Assessment Steering Committee:

An assessment steering committee comprises of a Fulcrum Enterprise Data Solutions Architect along with a client management team (Key stakeholders to be involved in the decision making for BI/ DWH initiative, Program/ Project managers), domain specialists (subject area experts, BI CoE experts, Lead Data Analyst) and technology consultants (Technical/ Solution Architects, Data modeler). With this consolidated team, Fulcrum provides industry standard assessment of the organization, its business and technology units.

Analyze Supporting Data architecture:

  • Identify the analytical techniques being applied
  • Identify data structure(s) being employed to support each analytical technique; Analyze ETL process and ETL Management environment
  • Identify data update and refresh frequencies, Identify the capture and use of metadata
  • Identify End User interfaces being employed per analytical technique

Identify Improvement Areas:

Based on the gaps and the business needs, the improvement areas will be identified.

Recommend Strategies/ Action Plans:

The prioritization of business needs will drive the next action plan or strategy . High priority areas with low performance can be identified as the first item for recommended action.
